Esther Song Liao received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Azusa Pacific University in 2019. She started learning the piano at age seven, first under the tutelage of Iris Su and later on with Sam Wei-Chih Sun and the late Dr. Eugene Alcalay.When she was fourteen, she took up the flute as her second instrument and studied with Jill Sheen, Grace Lai, and Gary Woodward. In addition to piano and flute, she also picked up the organ with Dr. Janet Harms during her time at APU.


Awards

On the piano, Esther has successfully completed the Music Teachers' Association of California’s Certificate of Merit program, including three years of Advanced Panels. She has performed as both a soloist and accompanist for numerous public and private concerts, recitals, conferences, events, and church services.On the flute, she was placed second of her age group in Certificate of Merit within her first year of learning the instrument. She has appeared as a soloist and choral accompaniment in countless events, most notably in Maestro Hsiao Tyzen’s memorial concert in December 2013.On the organ, she was the grateful recipient of the 2017 Organ Historical Society's E.P. Biggs Scholars Program Award and had the privilege of traveling all over the East Coast for the organ convention.


Teaching Experiences

Private & Group Lessons

Esther started giving private music lessons in 2013, and now has over a decade of private teaching experiences on both piano and flute.She previously gave music lessons at SOMA Music Academy and East Valley Children's Choir 東安兒童合唱圑, teaching the instruments of choice in additional to choral and music theory.Currently, Esther plays piano and flute for her church every week, and offers one-on-one music lessons in-person and online.


Lesson Rates

Private one-on-one lessons are offered for all ages, whether in-person or online (via Zoom or Google Meet).Curriculum books are of the student's choice, though Alfred's Prep Course Books or Faber's Piano Adventures would be recommended for beginners. Standard classical repertoire would be used for intermediate to advanced students.Tuition is paid in advance, due before the first lesson of the month.Payments via Zelle, Venmo, or cash are accepted.
